Before installing the motorcycle piston rings:
Before installing the piston rings, please read this installation and operation manual carefully.
2. Before installing the piston rings, check whether the cylinder and piston are damaged or scratched, and whether the piston and cylinder clearance are normal.
3. Before installing the piston rings, check the accuracy of related components such as the piston, cylinder liner, and piston rings.
4. Before installing the piston rings, check the model, specification and cylinder clearance of the piston rings.
5. Before installation, the piston, cylinder liner and piston rings should be cleaned.
6. Before installation, apply appropriate lubricating oil to the surface of the piston rings and ring grooves.
7. Do not install chrome-plated piston rings on chrome-plated cylinder liners.
When installing motorcycle piston rings:
The installation sequence should be: install the oil ring first, then the gas ring, and install from bottom to top.
2. When installing each ring, do not over-open the piston ring opening (the opening should not exceed 8 times the radial thickness T of the ring). Just keep it just enough to fit into the piston.
3. Install the combined oil ring
a) Insert the liner ring (middle bone) into the piston oil ring groove, and note that the openings of the liner rings must not overlap.
b) Install the lower steel (scraper) sheet and the upper steel sheet. Do not use tools to open the openings. As shown in the figure, during installation, first insert one end of the lower steel sheet into the ring groove (on the liner ring), and press the end position of the steel sheet with the large thumb. Then, slide the large thumb of the other hand along the side of the steel sheet into the ring groove. Finally, install the upper steel sheet in the same way. Do not install the upper and lower steel plates on the same side of the liner ring.
c) To prevent possible overlap of the liner ring openings when the piston is pushed into the cylinder, please offset the upper and lower steel plate openings from the liner ring joint by 90 to 120 degrees.
d) After installation, gently rotate the combined oil ring by hand. It should be smooth without any jamming.
4. Installation of air ring
a) Install using dedicated tools;
b) Install the two gas rings and one gas ring in sequence. Do not install the first and second gas rings in reverse.
c) When installing, the side marked (HYR, HY, CSR, TLK, ALS, H, R, etc.) should face upwards (towards the piston head).
d) Offset the opening positions of the gas rings by 180 degrees from each other. Do not place the openings in the direction of the piston pins.
5. Before assembling the piston rings into the cylinder, adjust the opening positions of each ring as shown in the figure.
When using motorcycle piston rings:
1. Adjust the ignition timing properly and set the required mixing ratio.
2. After the new ring is installed, cold running-in should be carried out as per regulations.
3. Do not drive at high speed in low gears. After starting the engine at low temperatures, preheat it.
4. Use the specified fuel and select high-quality engine oil;
5. Keep the engine well-ventilated;
6. Ensure there is sufficient oil, water and air.
7. For water-cooled engines, the water temperature must be strictly controlled.
