(1) Why adjust the headlights?

Apart from the phenomena mentioned earlier, if the far beam of the headlights is biased to the left, it will stimulate the eyes of the driver passing by on the same road while driving. If it is biased to the right, it may result in insufficient illumination in front, making it impossible to see the road conditions at a distance clearly.

If the axis of the near beam of the headlights is tilted upwards, it will emit light similar to the far beam, which will not bring convenience to one's driving but instead cause a dazzling effect for the driver of the opposite vehicle. Riders who have experienced this will promptly adjust the upward-tilted light axis.

In addition, if the light axis is moved upwards, when traveling by motorcycle at night on a dark mountain road, it will be more difficult to distinguish the road conditions ahead. Therefore, when disassembling a motorcycle or repairing a motorcycle that has been involved in an accident, do not forget to adjust the light axis of the headlights.

(2) What degree is appropriate for adjusting the headlights?

The standard for fine-tuning is as follows: the axis of the near beam of the headlights is about 30 meters in front (equivalent to the length of a telegraph pole); the axis of the far beam of the headlights is slightly downward from the horizontal line, and the limit of the illumination distance is about 100 to 150 meters.

However, when two people are riding together (the average weight of the passenger is 55 kg), the position of the light axis of the headlights will slightly move upwards. 

(3) How should the headlights be adjusted?

When performing the fine adjustment of the light axis, you can use a screwdriver to turn the small screws located on the lower side of the front of the headlights. In some models, this adjustment screw is on the top.

If you want to make a significant adjustment to the light axis, loosen the two screws installed on the headlight bracket, then adjust to the appropriate position, and finally tighten the screws. After a significant adjustment, press down on the lamp housing frame firmly to lock the screws, and then perform the fine adjustment. Only in this way can the light axis of the headlights be adjusted properly.

During the adjustment process, if it is difficult to determine the distance or height of the light axis, you can turn on the headlights and shine them at a wall or a utility pole. This will allow you to know the correct position of the light axis in advance, which is more conducive to subsequent adjustments of the light axis or replacement of the bulbs. In addition, if you want to adjust the light axis of a motorcycle with a cover, you can use the adjustment screws or buttons installed in front of the headlights.
