The rear shock absorber of a motorcycle usually uses a rolled sealing ring to fix the oil seal, and it is usually not easy to disassemble for maintenance. Therefore, when the rear shock absorber leaks oil, it usually has to be replaced. This is convenient and time-saving for the repairer, but it means the user will have to bear the cost of more expensive replacement parts.
The following methods can be used to repair the shock absorber that leaks oil due to the wear of the oil seal. The specific operation steps are as follows:
1. Use a 2.5-3mm diameter drill bit at the root of the shock absorber sleeve (the end close to the fixed bushing) and slowly drill a small hole on the bench drill. The operation should be slow to prevent iron filings from falling into the sleeve and damaging the oil seal.
2. Inject 5ml of vehicle shock absorber oil into the small hole using a disposable medical syringe. The amount of shock absorber oil should be determined according to the size of the shock absorber sleeve and should not be filled too full. For shock absorbers with dual suspension, the injection amount should be the same to avoid imbalance and shaking of the steering.
3. Wipe off the oil stains around the small hole with a clean cloth. Find an electric welding machine and use the spot welding method to seal the small hole. Make sure it is firmly sealed. The welding action should be quick. To prevent the shock absorber sleeve from overheating and damaging the oil seal or causing oil leakage, wrap the shock absorber sleeve with a wet cloth.
4. Remove the welding slag and check for accuracy. Then, it can be installed and used on the vehicle.
