Characteristics of bearing with seat
• Installation is quick and easy: Through various locking methods, the outer spherical bearing can be installed onto the shaft quickly and conveniently.
• Compensation for initial misalignment error: The outer surface is spherical, which can compensate for the initial static misalignment error caused by the tilt of the bearing seat.
• Long service life: Different sealing types can ensure an extended service life in various high-pollution application scenarios.
(1) Various different locking methods
1. Locking with set screws: Suitable for applications with constant or alternating rotation directions. The set screws with two 120° angles in the inner ring are used to lock onto the shaft. It is easy to install and widely used.
2. Eccentric locking sleeve locking: Suitable for applications with a constant rotational direction. Lock the locking sleeve onto the shaft by rotating it in the rotational direction, and then fix it further onto the shaft with a tightening screw. Note: The rotational direction of the equipment must be constant and cannot be applied to applications with forward and reverse rotation. However, it has a stronger anti-vibration capability than the tightening screw application.
3. ConCentra Locking Technology is suitable for applications with constant or alternating rotational directions. Even in heavy load and high-speed applications, it can lock the bearing onto the shaft in a simple, fast and reliable manner. Even when using shafts with lower tolerance for fit, it can achieve the complete limit speed. The SKF ConCentra patented locking technology is based on the expansion and contraction of two precision-machined serrated mating surfaces: the inner hole of the bearing; the outer surface of the toothed sleeve. It provides true concentric locking on the shaft because after tightening the locking screws on the mounting ring, the inner ring moves axially relative to the toothed sleeve, forcing the bearing inner ring to expand and causing the toothed sleeve to uniformly contract. It can reduce noise and vibration levels and basically eliminates creeping corrosion. Therefore, it is suitable for applications in equipment with high vibration.
4. Locking with a locking sleeve Suitable for applications with a constant or alternating rotational direction. When installed on the locking sleeve, it can achieve the complete limit speed even when using an axis with relatively low fit tolerance.
(2) Installation precautions for bearing with housing
Ensure that the supplementary lubrication holes or lubrication grooves on the outer ring of the bearing do not overlap with any of the installation notches in the bearing housing. Otherwise, it may cause lubricating grease leakage or contaminants to enter the bearing.
When installing the outer spherical bearing into the bearing housing through the installation notch, the bearing should be inserted into the notch in the bearing housing hole, and then rotated to the correct position. The misalignment error of the bearing relative to the bearing housing should not exceed 5° (if it exceeds 5°, lubrication cannot be replenished).
If the bearing needs to be replenished with lubricant, it is necessary to ensure that the replenishment lubrication position in the outer ring is aligned with the replenishment lubrication position in the bearing housing hole. That is, the misalignment error of the bearing relative to the bearing housing should not exceed 2°; otherwise, replenishment of the lubricant will not be possible.
