01Large displacement motorcycles are growing rapidly

According to the statistics of China Motorcycle Chamber of Commerce, the production and sales of fuel motorcycle in 2022 were 13.6815 million and 13.7873 million, down 16.75% and 16.14% year-on-year. The production and sales of electric motorcycles were 7.610,700 and 7.632,700, down 14.86% and 14.46% year-on-year. The production and sales of second-wheel motorcycles were 19.0111 million and 19.1316 million, down 16.94% and 16.42% year-on-year. The production and sales of large displacement recreational motorcycles (displacement above 250cc, excluding 250cc) were 551,100 and 553,400, with year-on-year growth of 47.51% and 44.68%. From the model details, in 2022, the production and sales of straddling bikes were 7.5065 million and 7.677 million, down 17.7% and 15.84% year-on-year. The production and sales of scooters were 9,932,400 and 9,987,800, down 13.53% and 13.07% year-on-year; The production and sales of beam bending cars were 1.4574 million and 1.460700 million, down 36.04% and 35.85% year-on-year. In terms of the proportion of the sales volume of each model in the total sales volume of two-wheeler, straddle, pedal and curved beam models accounted for 40.13%, 52.21% and 7.64% respectively.

The production and sales of 110 series were 1.469,700 and 1.520,600, down 30.62% and 27.83% year-on-year. The production and sales of 125 series were 4.903,700 and 4.936,100, down 14.35% and 14.02% year-on-year. The production and sales of 150 series were 3,005,600 and 3,014,200, down 17.95% and 17.69% year-on-year. The production and sales of the 250 series were 1.339 million units and 1.3529 million units, down 3.91 percent and 2.96 percent year-on-year. The production and sales of motorcycles with large displacement above 250cc (excluding 250cc) were 551,100 and 553,400, with year-on-year growth of 47.51% and 44.68%.
In 2022, the top 10 enterprises (groups) of fuel motorcycle sales are Da Changjiang, Longxin, New Continent Honda, Zongshen, Wuyang-Honda, Luoyang North, Chongqing Dechengwei, Guangzhou Dayun, Daye, Lifan, It sold 1,919,400 units, 1,183,000 units, 926,600 units, 887,000 units, 679,700 units, 590,800 units, 570,900 units, 521,200 units, 454,300 units and 415,600 units.
In 2022, the top ten enterprises (groups) of electric motorcycle sales are Yadi Technology Group, Zhejiang Luyuan, Dongguan Tailing, Jiangsu Xinri, Zongshen Group, Huaihai, Bashi New Energy, Jinyi, Rewo, Longxin, Sales were 4,671,800, 709,800, 708,200, 462,900, 358,300, 178,600, 105,900, 98,600, 79,300 and 60,200, respectively.
02 Decline in exports
It remains at a high level
In 2022, the international economic situation is complex and volatile, with exchange rate fluctuations, high inflation in some economies, and weakening international demand. At the same time, the impact of the epidemic in China has affected the production and operation of some enterprises. Overall, the quantity and value of motorcycle exports are weaker than in 2021, but still at a historically high level compared with previous years.
Statistics show that in 2022, motorcycle manufacturers exported $6.81 billion of their products, down 7.11 percent year on year. Total vehicle exports were 7.6447 million units, down 16.06% year on year, and the export value was 5.297 billion dollars, down 9.2% year on year. The export of motorcycle engines was 80,400 units, down 32.95% year on year, and the export value was $202 million, down 3.72% year on year. The export of ATVs was 401,400 units, down 22.29% year on year, and the export value was 991 million dollars, up 4.77% year on year. The export value of motorcycle parts was 320 million US dollars, down 6.55% year on year.
In 2022, the top five series exports were 125 series, 150 series, 110 series, 250 series and 50 series, with 2,6498, 1,952,600, 1,065,600, 894,500 and 322,800 units exported respectively. Compared to the same period last year, the 125 series dropped 12.07 per cent, the 150 series dropped 15.32 per cent, the 110 series dropped 24.71 per cent, the 250 series increased 0.27 per cent and the 50 series dropped 37.6 per cent. From January to December, a total of 6,885,200 of the above five series were exported, accounting for 95.39 percent of the total export of two-wheeled motorcycles. Exports of three-wheeled motorcycles were 426,500 units, down 17.67 percent year on year.
In 2022, the top 10 enterprises in the export of motorcycles are Longxin, Da Changjiang, Zongshen, New Continent Honda, Daye, Lift, Dayun, Haojin, Chongqing De Chengwei and Xiaxing. The above ten enterprises have exported a total of 4,794,400 units, accounting for 62.72% of the total export of motorcycles.
03 Total industrial output value and industrial sales value increased slightly year on year
According to the China Motorcycle Chamber of Commerce statistics on the monthly economic indicators of 88 motorcycle production enterprises in China, from January to November 2022, the total industrial output value, industrial sales value and operating revenue of motorcycle production enterprises increased slightly compared with the same period in 2021, and the total profit increased significantly compared with the same period in 2021.
● From January to November 2022, the total industrial output value of motorcycle production enterprises was 127.453 billion yuan, up 2.65% year on year; Completed the industrial sales output value of 1267.98 yuan, an increase of 3.18%; The industrial added value reached 19.799 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 10.43%.
● From January to November 2022, the total operating revenue and profit of motorcycle production enterprises increased in varying degrees, reaching 141.432 billion yuan in operating revenue, a year-on-year increase of 3.92%; The total profit reached 8.886 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 68.14%, and the total profit and tax reached 11.571 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 54.65%.

Compared with the same period in 2021, except Zongshen and Jincheng, the remaining 8 enterprises' operating income showed varying degrees of growth. From January to November 2022, the operating revenue of the top 10 enterprises totaled 98.574 billion yuan, up 8.13% year on year, accounting for 69.70% of the total operating revenue of motorcycle manufacturers, up 2.72 percentage points year on year. Among the top 10 companies in terms of revenue, all of them made a profit except Jincheng. Except for Zongshen and Jincheng, the remaining eight companies saw their combined profits increase compared with the same period in 2021. From January to November 2022, the total profits of the top 10 enterprises totaled 6.936 billion yuan, up 61.80 percent year on year.
